Tesla Solar Tiles – The Future Of Solar Housing
Are Solar Tiles the future of energy efficient homes? Earlier this month Elon Musk of Tesla and Solar city made a huge announcement for two of their solar products, first was an improved edition for the tesla solar wall and the second was the new solar tiles.
So first let’s talk about the new solar tiles, basically instead of putting ugly solar panels on your roof why not just make the entire roof the solar panel, that can generate power by making each and every roof tile a solar panel, this solar energy from the roof can be used immediately or stored for use at night by using The tesla solar wall.
Firstly though solar tiles are not a new thing they’re brought out by Dow chemical in the form of solar shingles many years ago but Elon musk has made this product much more appealing to the consumer.
It’s much the same as with the electric car, the technology has been around for many years but it never really took off until the Tesla model S came around, The Tesla model S is a good-looking, functional and excellent performing vehicle that the public is interested in.
Compared to standard tiles these tiles look better, last longer, are better insulators, last longer, are more durable and cost less when energy savings are factored in, it all sounds great but I think we have to wait for the technical details to make sure that this is a game changer.
There are a few cool things about the tiles to mention, firstly they’re designed to have a dual appearance from the ground they are designed to look like normal tiles but from the sun’s perspective they are transparent allowing the sun to shine onto the collector.
The Tesla glass tile is extremely durable which was showcased when 5-pound weights were dropped onto terra-cotta tiles, clay tiles, slate tiles in the Tesla glass tile, the only tile to survive was the Tesla.
The key factor in the tesla solar tile is that they look great, this means he’ll be excepted by the public and used more frequently. Usually, people have to choose between style and environmentally friendly they will choose style first but this tile combines both.
Tesla Power Wall 2
The tesla power wall 2 has double the storage Power than the original at 14 kW hours and 7 kW of peak power, Musk claims that you can power a four bedroom house all day with one of these and if you add in a solar roof you can power your house indefinitely.
Some construction companies are already including the tesla power wall in their new home construction and I am sure that this will continue to rise as it gains in popularity.
The proposed idea of the combination of the Tesla solar panel roof and the Tesla powerwall is one step closer to sustained electrical freedom away from fossil fuel’s.
The aim is to make solar attractive, functional and desirable, it looks like you on Musk of Tesla is well on his way to making this a reality.
