Northlands Edmonton – big changes coming.
With Rogers place The new home of the Edmonton Oilers well underway in downtown area many people are wondering what’s going to happen with Northlands and more specifically Rexall Place.
The Board of Directors recently hired Tim Reid who was previously the CEO for regional recreation corporation of Woodbuffalo for the past five years. Mr. Reid had worked with 360 design team for the new downtown arena and has no doubt that the facility is going to define the city of Edmonton.
Northlands Rexall Place
Well Northlands are still not sure what they are going to do with the Rexall building they are aware that it is only one building of a very diverse portfolio that Northlands holds. North lands has 135 year history in the city of Edmonton and will turn to the community asking their opinion of what should be done with the property.
Will Rexall Place be able to still attract larger concerts and other entertainment acts after Rogers Place opens? Only time will tell.
Northlands still holds the Canadian finals rodeo and horseracing Alberta.
The Canadian Finals Rodeo is always a wild ride and alot of fun in the city of Edmonton, Northlands has one more year on contract with the CFR and hopefully can secure another contract with the rodeo to keep them in the city. Although the lure of horse racing has diminished over the past ten years it is still a great afternoon and draws large crowds. Northlands Park is so close to downtown and has great parking which makes this venue easy to get to if you want to enjoy the races or just hit the casino floor.
Future of Northlands and rexall Place
We look forward to seeing what Mr. Reid can do with the next chapter of the storied Northlands Corporation.
