How capture quietly dies
Metal fines are heavy and abrasive: they blind cartridge media faster than wood dust ever will, bank in trunk elbows, and pack hoppers that stop emptying clean. As the system loads, face velocity at the hoods drops — and the fume and fines that used to vanish at the tool start drifting to the building airstream, the beams and the product. The grinder didn’t get dustier. The collector got fuller.

The park’s maintenance calendar is a masterclass in tight windows, and collector cleaning fits it: in at Friday shutdown, internals and network done, documented restart before Monday’s first arc strikes. Pair the building HVAC in the same window and the whole shop starts the week clean.
