What’s Included

Cleaning The Machine That Moves Your Air

When the fan runs, a typical Alberta furnace circulates the entire air volume of your house several times every hour — so every particle in your home passes through the furnace thousands of times a season. Here’s what we clean.

The blower compartment

The blower and its housing collect a film of dust that drags on efficiency and re-enters your air. We clean it as part of every furnace service.

The coil area & return drops

The area around the coil and the return drops are where debris and biofilm concentrate. Clearing them protects both your air and your airflow.

All connected ducting

There are no per-vent charges — the furnace price includes every supply run, return run, trunk line and diffuser connected to it.

Under negative pressure

The whole system is held under strong suction while we work, so the debris we loosen leaves the house instead of settling back into your rooms.

Our Process

How We Clean Your Furnace

01

We put the system under negative pressure

Before anything is disturbed we connect a truck-mounted or large portable vacuum and place the whole furnace-and-duct system under strong suction — so everything we loosen leaves the house instead of your rooms.

02

We clean the blower & coil area

We work through the blower compartment, coil area and return drops — the parts of the machine where settled dust and biofilm drag on efficiency and re-enter your air.

03

We agitate and clear the ducting

Rotary brushes and compressed-air tools dislodge the settled layer from every connected run and diffuser while the vacuum carries it away.

04

We check your filter & airflow

We confirm your filter fits and seals, and advise the highest MERV your furnace can safely handle — so you leave with cleaner air and healthy airflow.

Filters

The Cheapest Clean-Air Decision You Make

A furnace filter costs a few dollars and takes thirty seconds to change — and almost nothing else delivers that much clean-air return for that little money, if you get it right. The trap is buying the densest filter on the shelf and unknowingly starving your blower.

Do

  • Use the highest MERV your furnace is rated for — usually MERV 8–13.
  • Prefer low-resistance pleated or 4–5″ deep-media filters.
  • Match the size exactly and seat it with the arrow pointing to the furnace.
  • Hold it to a light — if no light passes through, change it.

Don’t

  • Drop a MERV 14–16 panel into a system not designed for it — it chokes airflow and can overheat the furnace or ice the A/C.
  • Trust marketing names over the MERV number.
  • Assume a good filter replaces cleaning — it can’t touch what’s already in the ducts.
  • Reinstall a washable filter while it’s even slightly damp.

All prices subject to GST.

Do You Need It?

Signs Your Furnace Is Due

Musty smell on start-upA ‘dirty sock’ or musty odour when the furnace or fan kicks on often means biological growth in the coil area — worth a clean and, for A/C homes, a look at UV protection.
Uneven heating or weak airflowRooms that heat unevenly or a blower that sounds strained can point to a clogged filter or a system that needs cleaning.
New build or post-renovationConstruction dust packs into the furnace and ducts and recirculates for years. A first clean a year or two in is often the most dramatic.
Dusty home or petsIf the house turns dusty again days after cleaning, the furnace loop is re-lofting a settled reservoir — time for a reset.
Questions, Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about what’s included, how it works, and what it costs.

They’re two halves of the same job, which is why we bundle them. Furnace cleaning focuses on the equipment itself — the blower, the coil area and the return drops where dust and biofilm build up. Duct cleaning clears the network of runs and diffusers that carry your air. Every furnace we clean already includes all of its connected ducting and diffusers at one flat rate.
A complete clean of the furnace and all of its connected ducting and diffusers: we put the system under negative pressure, agitate the settled debris loose, and clean the blower compartment, coil area and return drops. It’s a genuine reset of the system that moves your home’s air several times an hour, every hour.
No — and it’s one of the most common myths. A filter only cleans the air passing through it now. It does nothing about the years of debris already settled in your ductwork before that filter was installed, or material pulled in through leaky returns downstream of it. Filtration and cleaning solve different halves of the problem.
For most Alberta homes the answer lives between MERV 8 and MERV 13. MERV is the only rating that actually means anything — ignore names like ‘allergen’ or ‘premium.’ Use the highest MERV your specific furnace is rated to handle, ideally a low-resistance pleated or 4–5″ deep-media filter, and don’t choke the blower with a dense panel it wasn’t designed for. Ask our technician to confirm your system’s safe ceiling.
A 1″ pleated filter every 60–90 days; a thin fibreglass one every 30–60; a 4–5″ media filter every 6–12 months. The real test: hold it up to a light — if you can’t see light through it, it’s done, regardless of the calendar. Check monthly during wildfire smoke season and renovations.
For most homes, every three to seven years alongside your ducts — sooner after a new build, a renovation, a heavy smoke season, or if you notice musty smells or dust puffing from the registers.
A single furnace including all of its ducting and diffusers is $345 + GST, or $405 + GST with A/C. Each additional furnace is +$150 and each zone is +$60. Flat-rate, with no upsells.
Absolutely, year-round. Winter is a great time for it — your furnace runs constantly and cleaner equipment and ducts mean cleaner air during the months you’re indoors most.
