Duct length changes duct behaviour. County floorplans stretch their runs further than anything in town — and a longer, slower run is a better trap for everything the county throws at it.
The physics of the far bedroom
Air slows as a run lengthens and branches, and slow air drops what it carries. The long feeds to an acreage home’s far wings act like a river’s slow bends, banking sediment year after year: road dust in summer, wood-heat residue in winter, the everyday load of a busy rural household in every season. When we open the far end of a thirty-metre county run, we’re usually the first to ever see what it’s been banking.
The county’s three deposits
Gravel-road mineral dust is the constant — fine, pale and everywhere by August. Wood stoves add their smoke-residue film through winter. And well water adds humidity swings that make the deposits cling harder than the same material would in a dry city basement. Different quarters of the county mix these differently — a Wabamun lake place reads differently from a Keephills working acreage — but every county system carries some of each.
Lake places have their own calendar
Cottages and four-season lake homes around Wabamun and Spring Lake run hard in summer, sit sealed through shoulder seasons, then fire up for winter weekends — a duty cycle that lets deposits settle undisturbed for months, then blasts them loose into the room the moment the system restarts. A cleaning resets the cycle; the first heat-up afterwards smells like nothing at all, which is the point.
One number for all of it
$345 + GST covers the furnace and every connected run and diffuser, however long the floorplan stretches. Most county bookings add the HRV wash — the ventilator feeds the same lines, and on acreages it works the hardest of all.
